In total station, a vertical angle of 0* would correspond to a horizontal line. A positive vertical angle is one that is measured above the horizontal line. A negative vertical angle is one measured below the horizontal line. For this design experiment, you will need to use necessary survey equipment to determine the exact elevation on the top of the flag (the one in the middle) available on the UE oval. For this task, the elevation of the permanent benchmark established by the National Geodetic Survey (Point ID: HA1670) may be used (in front of Olmstead Hall). You will need to write out a detailed “Fieldwork Plan” (detail given below) which outlines the steps to collect the necessary data. I will grade your instructions based on clarity, accuracy and completeness (30 points, hardcopy due to me on November 6, 2017 at 2 pm). This will be part of your homework grade and must be done individually without any assistance from your peers or the instructor. Fieldwork Plan 1.
