Show transcribed image text For the beam of length 30 inches shown below, if the tension in the cable is known to be 10 kip and F = 50 kip, find the safety factor against failure if the material was (a) 4340 steel(Sigmay = 99 ksi, Sigmauts = 111 ksi, e = 16%) and b) a ASTM #60 gray cast iron (Sigmay = 59 ksi, Sigmauts = 62.5 ksi,Sigmaucs= 187.5 ksi, e = 3%). Which one would you use? All dimensions are in inches and Theta= 30 degree.
