However, Australia and New Zealand tend to be its major markets as more than 80% of sales are generated from the respected two countries. Upon reading Trivago’s financial reports and annual reports, it is very clear that Trivago is worried about its growth and the enormous amount of money it must spend on advertising to keep up with the rising competition and saturation of market. Trivago is afraid that if it spends too much capital on advertising that would bear losses to the company in terms of reduced profit or even losses and if little money is invested into the advertising, the revenue would fall. Falling revenue is never a good sign for a healthy business and it could cost Trivago its entire business. In financial reports, investors are being given clear indicators that Trivago might no longer experience the same growth as earlier due to the rising competition and saturated market it is operating in.

Adding to it, the revenue also has fallen as compared to the previous year due to multiple reasons such as reduction on advertising expense which in turn has started a chain reaction. As a result of this, Trivago’s advertisers have declined in putting emphasis to place ads on Trivago’s hotel meta search.
