Write 2 paragraphs: Write Your Comments/Thoughts for following information: Jurisdiction pays a big role when deciding to take somebody to court anywhere. You must know where you can sue the person. Sometimes you may be able to sue in both places, so you must pick the one that will protect and represent your matter best. I've learned from experience, car accident lawsuits usually will go to court within the county the accident occurred whether or not one or both parties lives in that county. Now on to something more interesting.. HARVEY WEINSTEIN Harvey Weinstein has a New York trail this week. On May 25, 2018 Harvey was charged by New York prosecutors with rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse, and sexual misconduct for incidents involving two separate women. His trail is this current week. Evidently on the same day his trails began, Harvey was charged with sex crimes in Los Angeles. This series of events relates to Chapter two of Courts and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Harvey Weinstein has been charged with similar crimes in two different states, New York and Los Angeles. This is because location on which the crimes were committed were in different states. The two ladies from the New York case are residents of New York. Harvey Weinstein is also a resident of New York. The plaintiff and defendant of this case are residents of New York, making New York the area of jurisdiction. The second case in Los Angeles was also brought forth by 2 women. The first women claims to have been raped. The second women claims sexual assault. Both incidents happened over a two day period back in 2013. Harvey attended a music festival in Los Angeles with one women and the rape occurred later that night. The second incident was at a business meeting held in Los Angeles as well. The women in this case are residents of Los Angeles. There is also minimum contact established by Harvey attending an event and business meeting in Los Angeles for the court of Los Angeles to claim jurisdiction over this case regardless of the fact that Weinstein is not a resident in California. Harvey attorneys asked for a delayed trail due to the new charges brought forth from Los Angeles. The attorneys claimed the jury in Los Angeles would be tainted by the case in New York. What do you guys think about this? Considering the charges are very similar.
