Murphy Inc., an equipment manufacturer based in the UK, has submitted samples of plastic (b) components for use in a new medical device your company is designing. It has been verified via process audits that Murphy's process for manufacturing these parts is behaving normally and running at a Cp of 0.9 The specification for the diameter of these parts is 8.0cm ±0.135. Your Quality engineering colleagues have conducted measurements and found that the units supplied have a mean (µ) diameter of 8.00cm. Determine the Cpk of Murphy's process and interpret its meaning. (3 marks) (i) Determine in parts per million (PPM’'s) the proportion of units (if any) outside specification.
