 Consider a theoretical single-stage vapour-compression refrigeration cycle using R-134a as the refrigerant is working in the steady state condition. It is operated with a condensing temperature of 40°C and an evaporating temperature of -12°C. The system produces 15kW of refrigeration. Sketch a T-s diagram of the refrigeration cycle and determine the thermodynamic property values (pressure, temperature, enthalpy and entropy) at the four main state points of the cycle. Calculate the mass flow rate of the refrigerant and the COP of the cycle. Assume that the condensing temperature of the cycle has been raised to 56°C; meanwhile the evaporating temperature remained unchanged. Calculate the COP. Discuss.
