A mass of 5 kg is suspended from a vertical spring, and after being pulled down and released gives damped oscillations. The time taken for 10 complete oscillations is found to be 4 secs and the ratio of the first to the sixth amplitude of oscillation is 2 (i.e. 5 complete oscillations later) What is the damping ratio? (0.0221) What is the stiffness of the spring? (1.23 kN/m)
